1930s Apartment, Bubeneč, Prague, Czech Republic | Studio COSMO
Studio COSMO: We've designed a comprehensive renovation of a 1930s Prague apartment, encompassing a redesign of the layout, replacement of flooring, and refurbishment of windows and doors. Throughout the process, our choices in materials and colors were guided by the original aesthetic of the space. The inspiration stemmed from features like the white lacquered doors and windows adorned with brass handles, as well as the characteristic oak parquet flooring.Stripping the floor plan to its load-bearing walls allowed us to craft a spacious hallway that serves as a central link within the apartment, rather than merely a passageway. Welcoming visitors is a striking green vestibule with a circular mirror, serving as the entrance to the apartment. Beyond lies a generously designed library, offering ample storage for both books and personal items. We opted to merge the original narrow street-facing rooms into a single expansive living area, achieved through a broad opening. Here, the white kitch ...查看全文 -

Lapland, the northernmost region of Finland, enchants with its unique year-round light phenomena, remarkable Arctic scenery and endless outdoor sport opportunities. Nestled in the pristine landscape near the Ylläs ski resort in Ä;käslompolo, the private holiday home Villa Housu snuggles into its surroundings, evoking a timeless presence similar to a steadfast Arctic creature.
Designed in close collaboration between Fyra and the architect Otso Virtanen of Ark Helsinki, Villa Housu is tailored to cater to the needs of an active outdoor family without compromising on design integrity. From the outset the dialogue between architecture and interior architecture has been a driving force of the design. Inside, the atmosphere exudes warmth and relaxation with minimalistic design choices. Emphasizing both functionality and visuality, every element is thoughtfully intertwined to enhance the overall user experience. AVA House | 2021 | Irina Biletska
Located in a tranquil coastal village in southern Bahia, Brazil, this house harmoniously integrates with the lush Atlantic Forest, embracing the region's humid tropical climate. Its main purpose is to offer a healthy, welcoming, and environmentally friendly environment, prioritizing solutions that minimize dependence on conventional energy resources.
The central strategy to ensure thermal comfort without the need for air conditioning was the maximization of cross ventilation in all spaces of the residence. This was achieved through the intelligent use of elements such as solid brick cobogó, which allows for continuous air circulation, keeping the spaces cool and airy even on the hottest days.
The design of the house is oriented to the east, making the most of natural light and the cool ocean breezes. Internally, some adobe walls contribute to regulating temperature and humidity, creating an even more comfortable environment for the residents. It is worth noting that the adobe bricks we ...查看全文 -
Aura
A Landmark Project
The main goal of architect Robert Konieczny was minimal interference with the existing ecosystem and, wherever possible, its enrichment. Hence the idea for the building's form to emerge from the existing terrain elevation, creating a green hillside extension. The greenery of the surroundings will merge with the Aura facade, with vegetation introduced even onto the roof.
Years of research and technological development allow for the effective and safe integration of greenery and various types of plants into facades. This provides users with the joy of being in touch with nature and comfort - coolness in summer, warmth in winter, as well as flowers or herbs within easy reach.
“If we provide enough greenery, in an accessible form, as we do in the case of Aura, we have a chance to permanently change the face of cities. Instead of heat islands, we can create buildings that regulate the humidity and temperature of the air both inside and in their immediate surroundings. Thi ...查看全文 -
Water's Edge
Located in a historical suburb, a treed residential enclave close to Sydney's central business district, this project's unique position overlooking the harbour guided every design choice, from the orientation and organisation of living spaces and outlooks to the material palette and landscaping. Creating a continuous interface with the water was critical, as was maximising the ocean views, while maintaining optimum privacy.
The brief to create a distinctive multilevel family home required joining together three erven. This gave the team an expansive footprint to work with and offered a lot of creative scope. It also posed various challenges, one of the most crucial being to minimise the villa’s profile to ensure the surrounding properties' views weren't impeded and that the neighbourhood's unique modestly scaled residential character was preserved. A sensitive approach – which entailed lowering the building into the landscape and maintaining generous setbacks - led to a subtle and mod ...查看全文 -
Maurice Martel architecte Studio
The Maurice Martel architecte Studio took on the challenge of transforming a former hair salon, once ordinary and confined to a single level, into its new architecture office. This project stands out for its thoughtful approach and the integration of custom solutions, demonstrating the Studio's ability to optimize and transform spaces efficiently.
The project utilized a previously unused crawl space to increase the ceiling height. This structural modification allowed for the installation of large windows, ensuring an abundance of natural light and a sense of open space, essential for a stimulating work environment.
Custom design and innovation
In the new layout, every component was carefully thought out and custom-made. All of the conference room furniture, the kitchen and open space, the doors with atypical proportions, and the storage spaces were designed to fit the specific dimensions and needs of the office. An elegant strip of glazing integrated into the ceramic wall floods both sp ...查看全文 -
Three Object Apartment
The renovation of the first floor flat of this modernist building upgrades the interior space to an up-to-date apartment, whilst also being a study on unfinished architecture. On this project, together with the clients, we explored and experimented with an aesthetic fully tailored to the existing qualities of the site, as acquired.
Located in a highly residential area, the building has been designed following modernist architectural principles. It was originally split in three different properties, one per floor, with the common area of Pilotis on the ground floor. The building had been barely appealing to developers or private owners and was left abandoned for the past thirty years. The family who bought the first floor perceived it as a ‘dwelling canvas’, both on the first level and Piloti's level. Pilotis are usually used as a parking space in the city of Athens. In this case it consists of a private covered area empty of program, therefore available to be adapted by the users ad-h ...查看全文 -
Casa Manacá
The Casa Manacá project, located on a corner lot in the city of Cesário Lange, São Paulo - Brazil, established relationships with various pre-existing elements on the site. Designed by the VAGA Arquitetura office, it promoted an interaction between the landscape and the architecture of the residence.
The relationship with the street, ideal insolation, and privacy were the main relationships established, requiring different levels of interaction between interior and exterior. For this purpose, the spatial distribution of the house is organized around three interconnected programmatic nuclei.
These nuclei are housed in two large intersecting volumes: the first, for services, configuring the front of the house towards the street, next to the nucleus of collective activities, open to the view of the lake and the garden. The second, configures the intimate volume, facing a private garden which, besides bringing greenery into the environment, offers freshness and privacy to the bedrooms. T ...查看全文 -

Townhouse
The clients of this historic home in the lush Palermo Chico neighborhood of Buenos Aires had worked successfully with Kallos Turin on several projects in Uruguay and Argentina, including a residence, as well as a publishing house and restaurant. They were looking to create an elegant home with depth and individuality that provided numerous spaces for discussion and the exchange of ideas.
The original house was designed by Alejandro Bustillo, one of the great architects of the Beaux-Arts era in Buenos Aires. While he is said to have designed the house in the 1940s, he apparently fell out with original owners during construction. The resulting house seemed to show a bit of that struggle. The house had an elegant façade and many thoughtful and intimate spaces, which was typical of Bustillo’s work, but had a number of awkward details that needed to be resolved.
Kallos Turin’s design approach was to restore the historic house, retain the façade, the plan of the main levels and the bes ...查看全文 -
Dot Line Plan
Located on the middle of the road from Gangchon Station to Gugok Falls and Munbae Village along the valley, the site is a quiet place a little away from Gangchon Amusement Park. Hikers and bicycle riders usually pass this place from spring, when cherry blossoms bloom until autumn. Along the way you can see old restaurants, closed accommodations, and locked down parks which have stopped development, only leaving the cutout sites mess.
We intended to block the view toward the disordered road and catch the eye on the opposite side aligning the trees with the eye level, giving a spatial experience hovering among the valleys. In order to make this eye level, we made a virtual site as big as the limited ratio of the land and lifted up the level, on top we made the main needed spaces, making the bottom a parking lot and entrance.
The space was designed with minimum forms, and the building materials were also limited so the people can focus on nature. Nature becomes the background of the buildi ...查看全文 -
Monroe Street Abbey
Built in 1929 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Italian Gothic revival-style structure originally housed the First Baptist Church. In 1984 – twelve years after the congregation relocated to a new location – a devastating fire destroyed the roof of the main sanctuary space, which the church had used as an auditorium, and left the interior finishes severely damaged and charred. The building’s future remained uncertain until 1992, when the nonprofit Housing Opportunity Center – led by former Phoenix Mayor and Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard and downtown neighborhood leader Katherine Patry – intervened to salvage the structure from the brink of demolition.
A comprehensive restoration and adaptive reuse design effort, led by Jones Studio and landscape architect Chris Winters & Associates, has retained the building’s historic integrity while integrating modern functionalities. The structure was stabilized with a new steel-and-concrete decking framework n ...查看全文 -
Radisson RED Helsinki
Finland’s first Radisson Red hotel opened its doors in the autumn of 2023, with Fyra being responsible
for the implementation of the brand’s signature interior concept. Located in the corner of Kaisaniemi
Park, the building by Anttinen Oiva Architects stands as a distinctive landmark.
Fyra’s implementation of Radisson Red’s signature concept fuses the local Nordic ambience and bold
architectural elements with the recognizable visual identity of the brand. Nestled on the fringe of the
city center within a spacious park, the building's expansive windows provide captivating views of the
park and the city scape. The interior design choices strategically enhance the essence of the views with
its subtle yet dark material palette.
Leaving the rough concrete surfaces exposed contributes to an authentic and laid-back ambiance.
Throughout the public spaces, a blend of raw surfaces and warm dark wood creates an inviting
atmosphere. The lighting design significantly influences the ambiance, esp ...查看全文 -
The Château Cantenac Brown
A Scottish castle in Margaux
Cantenac Brown, a 1855 classified grand cru, is located in Margaux, France, near Bordeaux. The emblem of this winery is its spectacular Tudor-style château built by a Scotsman, John Lewis Brown, 200 years ago and unique in this region. Upon his family's acquisition of Château Cantenac Brown in 2019, Tristan Le Lous became the custodian of this heritage, vowing to safeguard the property's high standards and quality. In 2020, the architect Philippe Madec, a leading architect and pioneer in eco-construction, was chosen to design a cellar built from raw earth and untreated solid wood, pushing the boundaries on current environmentally responsible practices.
Architectural Position
The project aimed for an energy-efficient renovation: working with what was already there, without disturbing the site or competing with the Tudor château. The restructuring completes the volumes of the southern part of the domain, comprised of a hotel built by Axa in the 1990s and fo ...
Casa ME
The apartment, whose renovation was completed in 2023, is located in Rome, in the E.U.R. district, and was designed for a young couple with two children: a designer and a psychologist with the need to have a comfortable and flexible study area that would allow them to receive clients while avoiding interference with the most private rooms of the house. It was thus decided to clearly divide the bedrooms from the living area which develops into a single room of approximately 60 square meters. This is equipped with areas that are visually and functionally separated but connected to each other: the kitchen (from which there is direct access to the laundry and a small bathroom), the study, the living and the dining room. The sleeping area, however, has been reconfigured to have three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The new layout was obtained by operating mainly with demolitions and removals, appropriately calibrated to preserve some original characteristics of the construction including the nai ...查看全文 -
RVTK
The family residence is located above the market town Silandro, on the south-facing slope of the Val Venosta Montesole Mountain. Nestled on the steep and warm dry slopes we find single and multiple family homes with gardens as well as vineyards. On the opposite side of the valley, the Montetramontana mountain with its flush meadows and forests rises to impressive summits. The valley plain spreads graciously from east to west, steadily inclining to the west towards Resia Pass, here and there interrupted by alluvial fans.
The original three-story house was built in 1978. It had a gabled roof, a semi-subterraneous basement, a first floor and a second floor. In 2020, the family decided to renovate and expand to create space for three apartment units.
The project featured the demolition and then reconstruction of the existing attic floor, resulting in its elevation by another half-story and the addition of a roof deck. The apartments in the basement and on the first floor were renovated in o ...查看全文
